The VID or VirtualID is the cornerstone of a new cross-media measurement system that will, for the first time, enable marketers to control the reach and frequency of their ads across all video advertising platforms and screens.

The term seemed to surface back in 2020 – VIDs, or virtual people IDs –– intended to enable the industry to target people, and control for reach and frequency, without actually knowing who they are.
