So, this week I’ve been talking about ‘models’ and ‘algorithms’. We hear about both a lot these day – whether it is Netflix finding out what we should watch based on our viewing history, Google answering questions about what we are searching for or retailers promoting another item when we put one item in the cart.
It’s all powered by machine learning which relies on models and algorithms. I thought I understood this until I started to think about it. How do algorithms ‘relate’ to models.
Is a model based on an algorithm? So in training the model – does the algorithm slightly (or more) change because of the data/results?
To get the answer, I asked a data scientist. Just wait until tomorrow for ‘The Answer Thursday’.
